Halloween Fun

Things were getting spooky in Sacred Heart as we celebrated Halloween at school. Everyone enjoyed dressing up on Friday and even a few of the teachers got in on the action.  Check out some of the winners of the fancy dress and pumpkin carving competitions. Well done to everyone who took part!  We wish everyone a safe and happy Halloween and a lovely mid-term break!

Ms. Conway's Senior Infants

Senior Infants' Aistear Theme this week is 'Halloween'. The witches and wizards have been busy making potions in our 'Potions Lab' Mixing frogs legs with dragon scales and googly eyes to make happiness potions, love potions and potions to create wishes. We were writing any potion that worked well into our magic book so it could be used again.

In our water play area we have been playing with the witches broth.

Senior Infants were busy showing each other how much they have grown. They brought in pictures of themselves as babies and things they used to use as a baby. They no longer use these things now as we have grown up so much. Have a look at how tiny our shoes were and how small we look in our baby pictures. We have grown from babies to toddlers, to children.

We also had great fun making these colourful paintings. We used marbles and our favourite paint colours to create these works of art.

Ms. Ward's Junior and Senior Infants

Junior and Senior infants have settled into their new classroom and have been working very hard. We have been doing lots of hands on maths activities, reading stories, fine motor skill work and of course playing during Aistear time.

Ms. Finn's 4th and 5th Class

Fourth and fifth class have enjoyed discovering all about electricity and how electrical circuits work. We examined the life of The First Emporer of China and read all about his terracotta army. We investigated the structure of the Earth and it's various layers. We also learned about different types of weather and the equipment meteorologists use to measure it. We have completed our narrative writing and have really worked hard to incorporate lots of exciting words and adjectives when writing our stories. We love seeing our work on the walls and being able to read our classmates stories.

Congratulations to the U13 Aughrim Camogie team who beat Avondale in the Camogie Final.

The Junior Infants have settled into school very easily this year. Below are some photos of the Junior Infants gardening with Gary and taking part in the Aistear programme in their classroom. Check out the brand new floor covering. Doesn't it look great!
